The Iconic Puzzle Game Wouldn't Triumph at The Game Awards — A New Category May Address This Issue

Whenever a major prize-giving event nears, there’s always a clamor to include of new categories to recognize underappreciated efforts and fill the spirits of followers dedicated to specific genres.

Another commentator previously argued advocating for terror-themed awards. That would rule. Equally deserving are tabletop games, which is a passionate advocate's mission. But they will have to forgive me for pushing forward just as with other single-minded supporters, I have a cast-iron argument backing this proposal remains most pressing and significant. The demand is this: It's essential to create a category for puzzle games.

Categorizing Game Types

Organizing artistic expressions defies precise measurement; opinions vary greatly, and it will always spark debates and end in fuzzy definitions. It's understandable that film award organizations steer clear of genre categories. However, it represents an essential concession for the industry of gaming, which are so diverse it's challenging to consider them one unified medium.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of interactive entertainment excellence to be recognized, and for games of all stripes to have a chance for representation, specific award classifications remain vital.

Present Award Structure

The major gaming awards currently feature genre categories for Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Between them, these award types effectively encompass a lot of ground, making space possible for numerous titles.

This doesn't apply to brain-teasing titles. No suitable classification appears to put them. Think about these outstanding current releases, showing diverse approaches: building puzzles of one title, intense tile-matching of another game, thought-provoking social scenarios from additional release. Where could they possibly go between these six categories? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Recognition Challenges

Many instances occur excellent brain-teasers released every year that have no home at major award shows, if they accidentally match for categories like Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive small studio competitions.

  • An iconic brain-teaser wasn’t nominated completely in 2014
  • A different innovative game received no nominations during that ceremony
  • A beloved organization game got ignored that year
  • Just some puzzle games managed to sneak into small studio or handheld classifications

Importance of Logic Titles

Frequently they represent compact experiences, however the design of the puzzle game carries substantial weight. Iconic mobile puzzle games count as most engaged experiences globally and have been for an extended period.

The famous puzzle experience rivals famous sandbox experiences claiming status as most purchased experience; it also contends as greatest title ever. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks to the art of video games, and they are in conversation across multiple categories.

Recommendation and Reasoning

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter that issue. One could readily select five nominees interesting, varied, worthy titles annually without trouble — actually, with challenge, because you’d have to leave so many good games out.

To emphasize again, these are games that otherwise have no home during prominent ceremonies. Brain-teaser creators operate at the demanding boundary of video game design, producing among the purest expressions of gaming itself. Just like cinema stunt performers, they deserve recognition. Let’s not keep them waiting 35 years.
